Benchmark : At the end of the activity, the students should be able to classify
common and Proper nouns into 3 groups: People, Places, Objects
Task A : Magician’s Box
1. On the Board are 3 charts.
2. Crystal Ball where we bring all the people,
3. Castle where we see all the places,
4. The Shield where we put all the objects.
5. From the Magician’s Box, one will pick a strip of paper.
6. Read aloud the noun in the strip.
7. Identify whether the word is a person, place or object.
8. Tape it on the right chart (guided box drawn on chart)
9. When all had taken turns, let us all read the words
Task B : Picture Quest
1. There are pictures taped or hidden all over the classroom.
2. Look under your desk, walls, doors, windows
3. Get one picture
4. While seated on your chair, look for the word on the chart that matches your picture.
5. Taking turns, each will tape the pictures above the word.
6. This checks student’s understanding of the word meaning.
7. Pointing to the chart: these are what we call nouns: words referring to a person, place or object
Task C : Name That Noun
1. Referring to the words, let us add real names.
Ex: King Peter “Don’t you think that Peter can really be a King?
2. Now let’s go to the rest of the list, see if you could think of a name for each noun.
3. Pointing to the chart: these are what we call Proper nouns: Real names referring to a person, place or object.
