Spot the Difference!

Activity 6 : Capitalization of first letter of the first word in the sentence and
of proper nouns

Benchmark : At the end of the activity, the students should be able to use
of first letter of the first word in the sentence and of proper nouns

Task : Spot the Difference!

1. On the chart we have the story of “ The Power of the Forbidden Love”. ( with proper punctuation marks but capital letters)
2. Each student is given strips of papers with a sentence from the story.
3. While seated each should examine the sentence.
4. By taking turns, each student will compare his sentence with the ones written on the chart.
5. Is there any difference?
6. Is the first letter of the first word in the sentence the same?
7. Are the names of the people, places and some objects on the chart written the same way as it is on the strip?
8. Circle the difference.
9. Write on top of the letter or words the correct way.
10. See how the story comes to life when we write the names and the words correctly?
11. Therefore, we capitalize the first letter of the first word in the sentence and
12. We capitalize the first letter of proper nouns referring to certain people, places and some objects.
